The new EL509- MK1 and EL509-MK2. These tubes are a dream come true for the OTL fan!!. TubeBuilder is now offering these tubes to make building OTL amplifiers even easier. Here is why; the tube show below is the EL509-MK1
This is identical to the Svetlana EL509 with the anode at the bottom. This eliminates the need for those expensive plate caps, teflon wires and chassis grommets. It has the 2.5 amps heater and has all the characteristics of the SV509. The Russian equivalent for this tube is the 6Pi45C.

To make things even more interesting! the tube below is the EL509-MK2. This is a "God Send" to the world of OTL Audio.

This is identical to the Svetlana EL509 with the anode at the bottom. The bonus here is that this tube resides in the case of a 6550. Yes, it has an OCTAL socket. The benefits of using this tube are: 1) You will not need an expensive plate cap with teflon wires. 2) You wont need a costly "noval" 9-pin socket. 3) Your project looks a lot more attractive without a web of wires going to plate caps. 4) This tube is easier to wire, thus saving construction time.
I regard this tube as a sure winner, and it will further enhance the growth of the OTL topology that we all embrace.
